Fire Safety & First Aid Training
Cataldo Training Ltd, founded in 2021 by former firefighter Simon Cataldo MIFSM, offers training in various fields. Our approach is based on practical training, involving real-life experiences and a relaxed, inclusive environment. Cataldo Training is committed to supporting local businesses and the community, sponsoring local U15 football team Clegwell FC and providing free training to voluntary associations like CHUF.
We also work with numerous North East businesses, and businesses across the UK and educational settings for Health and Safety training needs, particularly First Aid and Fire Training.
BESPOKE TRAINING CASE STUDIES
Cataldo Training was approached by a regular client to design and deliver practical firefighting taster sessions for Uniformed Protection Services students aged 16–18.
Cataldo Training was approached to support a wider programme of holiday club activity sessions across schools and venues in County Durham, introudcing the kids to basic first aid.
Cataldo Training was approached by Amazon to provide refresher first aid training for as many staff as possible during a busy working day, refreshing essential skills already learned.

First Aid
First Aid is the initial, immediate treatment given to a casualty who is suddenly taken ill or is injured. The First Aider can be seen as a ‘stop gap’ until qualified medical help arrives. Various courses are available to equip attendees with the knowledge and skills to not only take on this role but make a real difference in an emergency.
Fire Warden
Sometimes referred to as a Fire Marshal course, this training is designed to equip attendees with the underpinning knowledge and skills to take on the role of a competent Fire Warden in the workplace. Candidates will be awarded a certificate to acknowledge their training and new skills, which are affiliated with IFSM—Institute of Fire Service Managers.
Fire Safety
Fires, both in the workplace and domestic, can have serious consequences. Most notable is the impact on people themselves. Fire Safety training focuses on how we can contribute to reducing the chances of a fire occurring, as well as mitigating the effects should the worst happen. Our course supports your legal duties to ensure staff are fire aware.
Defibrillator
The survival rates of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest are significantly increased by the early intervention of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) With AEDs being available more and more to the public, this training ensures confidence in using this vital piece of equipment.
Fire Extinguisher
Often delivered as part of a Fire Warden/Marshal course, this training is mainly practical and introduces attendees to the various fire extinguishers in use, their advantages and limitations, and their operation on live fire scenarios. Giving your team confidence to handle fire extinguishers in your buildings.

Meet Simon Cataldo MIFSM, founder of Cataldo Training. Ex firefighter who served in the Royal Navy and Mines Rescue Services. Cataldo Training was borne from Simon’s passion for training. His career started as a Firefighter in a local authority Fire & Rescue Service, serving at busy city centre fire stations, where experience is briskly gained.

About Small Business Podcast

Fire Risk Assessments
A Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) is a legal requirement under Fire Safety Legislation, requiring non-domestic premises like offices, shops, hotels, healthcare facilities, and HMOs to conduct a comprehensive assessment. The FRA identifies areas of risk and determines individuals at risk. Areas considered include fire detection systems, emergency exits, firefighting equipment, information availability, and required fire safety training. Business premises should undergo a FRA annually or if significant changes occur.
