Newcastle College
Cataldo Training was approached by a regular client to design and deliver practical firefighting taster sessions for Uniformed Protection Services students aged 16–18. The aim was to give students a hands-on introduction to basic firefighting techniques, including hose rolling, hose drills and the opportunity to operate a pressurised Fire Service water hose.
The sessions needed to be safe, engaging and realistic, while being delivered with minimal equipment and within suitable college and outdoor environments. As well as supporting students who may be considering a future career in the Fire Service, the training also needed to provide wider benefits, including teamwork, confidence building and important fire safety awareness.
Working closely with the college, Cataldo Training developed a bespoke programme that combined practical skills workshops with clear safety messages and live fire extinguisher training. Delivered across four sessions at Newcastle College and Town Moor, the programme gave students a valuable and memorable experience of Fire Service equipment, procedures and teamwork.

Client Review:
Its was great to Simon Cataldo MIFSM of Cataldo Training in at Newcastle College recently.
Giving my 2nd year students real life EFAW qualifications to build thier CV’s and the confidence of delivering first aid if its required.
Working with my 1st year students on fire safety and fire hose management. Should these students come across a fire in the home or at work they will have the confidence to keep calm and use equipment safely and confidently.
The students loved his manner and teaching style, this only comes with real world experience. His background is pedigree in the uniformed services and being relateable is exactly what my students expect.
